Will anyone ever be counted as "acute" if collected according to these rules?
*The problem is that in the "rules" the pt must have had the trach procedure done while on the ward, which rarely happens.  The "acute" rule only applies if it is a trach done in the last 48 hours which could happen.  I think that the collectors are counting all the trach patients whether the trach was done while on the ward or not, according to the numbers.  I do not see the value in whether it is acute or chronic because we no longer even do this in the ICU tiss.  I think there is more value in whether it is a temporary trach or permanent trach. (Just a suggestion).--LKolesar 15:02, 2013 May 8 (EDT)
discussion
*This entire article does not make sense.  By this definition no one on a medical ward would have a trach task marked.  By this definition, a pt that gets a trach while in the ICU would not get the task marked when they are transferred to medicine.  Trach task, in my opinion, should be marked if a pt has a trach no matter when they got the trach or where.  (It is a nursing workload issue). Also, instead of the terms acute and chronic, it should be temporary or permanent for the options.  Medicine collectors please let me know how you deal with this task.--LKolesar 10:01, 2013 May 8 (EDT)

**I think everyone interprets the task trach to mean trach care, not trach insertion, otherwise we would not have the numbers that we do.  I don't mind making this clear in the instructions if this is the intent of this task. Let me know. --LKolesar 11:24, 2013 May 9 (EDT)

The trach task encodes whether or not a medicine patient has a tracheostomy. It is stored in the Diagnosis tab in CCMDB.accdb because that is the only way we could store it when we started to collect it.

Instructions

Medicine ward patients have lines created automatically under the diagnosis tab. The one for this element needs to be changed to one of the following:

Data Integrity Checks

See diagnoses in Category:Tracheostomy.

Data Integrity Checks (automatic list)

 AppStatus
Query check trach dx taskCCMDB.accdbretired

Data Structure

the list of options is in s_AllDiagnoses table and the actual data is stored in L_Dxs.

CCI

 • This task will no longer be collected once we move to ICD10/CCI. There are codes there, CCI Tracheostomy creation and ICD10 Tracheostomy, has one, Tracheostomy care and various tracheostomy complications. Will we want to move this data over or just keep it separate? Ttenbergen 19:26, 2018 October 25 (CDT)

Legacy

Task items replaced iTISS December 15, 2006.
