Additional Info
Nocardiosis is a disease caused by bacteria found in soil and water. It can affect the lungs, brain, and skin.
It is most common in people with weakened immune systems who have difficulty fighting off infections
Infection with this pathogen is called nocardiosis no matter what body part is infected -- the most common sites being lungs and sinuses. So it can be used as a pathogen, for example to code Nocardia pneumonia as CAP or HAP with this code as the bug.
Double Duty Pathogen code
This ICD10 code does double duty as both a pathogen and a disease condition:
- as the Infection with implied pathogen nocardiosis
- as the pathogen nocardia
