Isolation, infectious: Difference between revisions

This procedure is a part of CCI Collection via CCI Picklist.

This is a procedure code for a patient who is on any sort of infection isolation precautions.
It includes any/all of the following kinds of isolation protocols:
- gloves only
- gloves and gown
- mask
- negative pressure room use
- reverse isolation
- cohorting the patient with other patients with the same pathogen

	For a patient with primary admit of CHF who is placed on Isolation, infectious on arrival to ward for pre existing MRSA, is the isolation coded as an admit or acquired CCI procedure? If acquired, what date is to be entered, the last date of isolation? I think that would be an admit, ie no date. But let's say it was decided only after arrival; then doing a code-once with the date when it stops would seem a bit strange. Again, it would be nice if someone could bring this to task meeting.

This is NOT included because such isolation (e.g. keeping pregnant nurses from caring for patients getting certain teratogenic medications) is not isolating the patient.

"CCI collect first" items are entered the first time they happen
Px Date
- if an Acquired Procedure, enter them with the Px Date of the first time they happen
- if an Admit Procedure leave the date blank and just enter the procedure
Px Count is always 1 for this collection mode
