Data definition for factor candidates for the Overstay2 project
This page documents the data definitions used in the Overstay2 scoring models, as defined during re-analysis and generation of Overstay2 model and implemented in Overstay2 module. See Overstay2 Overview for additional context.
Definitions
Hospitalization
A hospitalization is defined as records with same (PHIN and Visit Admit DtTm).
Discharge Ready DtTm
- The first Transfer Ready DtTm tmp entry associated to a Medicine record from this #Hospitalization
Overstay
- #Discharge Ready DtTm - (Final Dispo DtTm of the #Hospitalization, no matter if a medicine or critical care record)
- If there is no #Discharge Ready DtTm this will be considered as no Overstay ie it will lead to a Overstay of 0
Coefficients / factors
Not all of these factors are used, see model (list in Overstay2 scoring models) for actual use. Also see Re-analysis and generation of Overstay2 model for how they were selected.
Age
age at first medicine unit admission of this #Hospitalization
Location / living arrangement
Re-analysis and generation of Overstay2 model#Location Grouping considerations explains considerations we had in generating these groupings.

Opioids

Discussed these with Lisa; she figures the units would approach chronic addiction differently than one-time experimentation, so I pulled them apart like this, but we should validate both the concept and the groupings with someone medical. Ttenbergen 09:51, 25 June 2025 (CDT) |

post Overstay2 scoring model for Grace Hospital candidates
We realized after finalizing the Overstay2 scoring model for Grace Hospital that some candidate codes would be better if their definition was tweaked.

Integrate these better

Implementation
- Template:OSDD should be used to refer to these to consistently link here
- SAS: See Template:S:\MED\CCMED contains the code that defines these for the model.
