CCMDB data.mdb restore from Regional Server
This page describes how to restore a backed up version of CCMDB data.mdb. Only do this when something goes wrong. (see #When or why would you do this?)
Backups
There are two kinds of backups.
- When CCMDB.accdb closes it runs a Compact-and-repair automatically; this generates a file "ccmdb_data_backup.mdb". Usually this one will not solve your problem if you have accidentally deleted data you want to restore, but it might be helpful if there is simply data corruption.
- The series of backups created on the Regional Server when you run News and Backup
How to restore CCMDB_data.mdb
- Make sure you are closed out of Access program
- Make a backup of the current ccmdb_data.mdb file
- restore the backup from the Regional Server to the laptop
- double-click on the Regional Server shortcut on your desktop
- navigate Regional Server\data\<Laptop identifier of this laptop> (full address:
\\ad.wrha.mb.ca\WRHA\REGION\SHARED\ICU_DATA_COLLECTION\data\<Laptop identifier of this laptop>
) - double-click data_to_local.bat and follow its instructions to copy the backup to your laptop
- open CCMDB.accdb from your desktop shortcut as usual
- Email tech support that you did this, and whether it fixed your problem. These instructions allow you to fix problems quickly when they happen, but we want to know if there are patterns of problems so we can prevent them in the first place.
When or why would you do this?
If CCMDB.accdb is not working correctly the program or the data repository might have become corrupted. This is not a big deal: the program is just a copy if the master version, and the data is backed up by you frequently.
Primarily you would follow the instructions in this article because you were directed to by tech support or by another article.
A lot of problems will be fixed by getting a fresh version of the program. Often it will be the first thing Tina would get you to try anyway, so you can save yourself time by just trying this first. See also Troubleshooting
Usually your program is kept up-to-date by the News and backup process, so you don't need to do this on a regular basis.
