This page ties together the different types of information we collect about deceased patients. Additional info might be in but not integrated here yet.
General instructions for deceased patients
- Diagnosis: brain death or death has been declared
- Diagnosis codes: braindead (524) & organ donor (874).
- Dispo DtTm: date and time patient is sent from ICU to the operating room or to another ICU (see #Background)
- Dispo: code "died - organ donor"
Some Organ Donors have a bronchscopy done, but not all do, so don't automatically assume and code it. The only time it is done is if there are considering the lungs. This is according to a Respirologist from STB ICU.
