This procedure is a part of CCI Collection via CCI Picklist.
Additional Info
Only track whole body cooling done for post-Cardiac arrest.
If a patient receives post-arrest cooling (targeted temperature management, TTM), code it. It doesn't matter for how long the cooling was applied or whether the Cardiac Arrest Cooling Protocol was followed. Hypothermia is not always needed. The idea is to keep the patient's temperature from going high. Usual maintenance temp is 36 degrees.

Occasionally the patient on TTM is not cooled at all because their temperature remains low, they may even be warmed to keep the temperature at 36 degrees. Do we still use the whole body cooling in CCI or should we use warming in these cases?--LKolesar 14:31, 2018 October 29 (CDT) |
