Additional Info
Only track whole body cooling done for post-Cardiac arrest.
If a patient receives post-arrest cooling (targeted temperature management, TTM), code it. It doesn't matter for how long the cooling was applied or whether the Cardiac Arrest Cooling Protocol was followed. Hypothermia is not always needed. The idea is to keep the patient's temperature from going high. Usual maintenance temp is 36 degrees.

Occasionally the patient on TTM is not cooled at all because their temperature remains low, they may even be warmed to keep the temperature at 36 degrees. Do we still use the whole body cooling in CCI or should we use warming in these cases?--LKolesar 14:31, 2018 October 29 (CDT)
- AG REPLY: CCI does not have a code for TTM after cardiac arrest. THUS, I think we should ADAPT the code currently called Whole body cooling to solely represent TTM after cardiac arrest, even changing its name, perhaps to "Targeted temperature management after cardiac arrest (TTM)". This plan fits well since we had already decided that we'd only use this code for cooling after cardiac arrest.
- If we do that, then the "Additional Info" stuff should be changed to read something like "Use this code only for manipulation of body temperature after cardiac arrest. The procedure may involve body cooling OR body warming. It doesn't matter for how long TTM was applied."
- 11 As per Task_Team_Meeting_-_Rolling_Agenda_and_Minutes#ICU_Database_Task_Group_Meeting_.E2.80.93_November_8.2C_2018 we are thinking of combining the cooling and warming to a TTM code to only be used post cardiac arrest. There is a further question there relating to this.

coding with BRR
For patients with this, also code BRR.

- Allan confirmed that Bojan doesn't require special treatment for this one, so once we fully move to CCI only collection we will be able to stop collecting the BRR entry and its cross check altogether.
