Additional Info
- This is a wastebasket category for a number of different types of iatrogenic injury codes. Try to choose one that's more specific to the problem at hand. Here is a listing of all of them: Iatrogenic codes in ICD10
- This code includes when a wound closure/anastamosis itself is INTACT (e.g. sutures, staples, etc all in place as they should be), but there is copious drainage from it (e.g. between the staples).
Items left behind during surgery
If items are left behind during surgery (eg. sponge left in the chest post CABG) use this code.
Alternate ICD10s to consider coding instead or in addition
- Any of the other iatrogenic injury codes: see Iatrogenic codes in ICD10
