**** I think you would code [[Renal dialysis care, including dialysis itself]] for the long-standing problem and this code as an acquired for when it was done on your unit. Does that make more sense? If so, can you integrate that into the instructions and get rid of the discussion? I would do it but am not sure if this is the answer you need yet. *AG REPLY --- IF the person is being admitted FOR the dialysis (or more properly, for a problem which the dialysis is aiming to fix such as hyperkalemia or a drug overdose treated with dialysis) then it can be an admit procedure. If not and it's just being done as part of the person's usual care, then it'd be included as an "acquired" procedure | |||

Additional Info
- A COUNT for this code is the number of DAYS on which it is used -- so any use for any part of a day counts as "one day".
Template:CCI one entry only code
- If someone is on chronic HD, and they come in and are dialyzed during their stay, do we list this as an admit code, or as an acquired code? What date do we use-the date that they first had a treatment while in hospital, or the admit date?Mlagadi 09:32, 2018 July 26 (CDT)
- Please see Px Type. If that addresses it, please remove the question from here. However... what do we need to change so you would have found that information where it is? Ttenbergen 15:27, 2018 July 29 (CDT)
